Kawhi-less Spurs Lose Big in Game 2

Kawhi-less Spurs Lose Big in Game 2

THE powerhouse Golden State Warriors clobbered the shorthanded San Antonio Spurs, 136-100, on Tuesday in Oakland (Wednesday, Manila time) to make it two straight wins in the Western Conference finals. Stephen Curry was terrific, leading all scorers with 29 points to go along with seven rebounds and seven assists. He had 13 points, nine rebounds, six assists, two blocks and two steals in 28 minutes.

3-Point Goals-San Antonio 8-23 (Bertans 3-3, Simmons 2-3, Forbes 1-4, Mills 1-4, Da.Green 1-5, Aldridge 0-1, Ginobili 0-1, Anderson 0-2), Golden State 18-37 (Curry 6-9, McCaw 3-4, Clark 2-4, Thompson 2-5, Durant 2-5, Dr.Green 2-6, McAdoo 1-1, Barnes 0-3).

Jonathon Simmons, who led the team with 22 points, making the most of another playoff start in place of Leonard. "Just shows that we locked in and took care of home court, which we're supposed to do".

Leonard reinjured his left ankle in Sunday's 113-111 Game 1 loss after coming down on the foot of defender Zaza Pachulia.

We thought this series might be over after Leonard's injury, and Tuesday night's dismantling made that the most likely scenario moving forward.

There wasn't a single point in the game where the Spurs could get any kind of grip on the game, as the Warriors opened with a 33-point quarter. The Warriors now lead the series 2-0, which will transition to San Antonio for the next two games beginning with Game 3 on Saturday night.

Golden State Warriors' acting coach Mike Brown was happy to see his team stroll to a victory.

This was just James' second win in Game 1 of a playoff series on the road in 12 tries, according to ESPN's stats shop. It was LaMarcus Aldridge's time to step up as the best player on the Spurs roster, and he didn't answer the call as he played his worst game of the playoffs. Golden State shot 56 percent.

Andre Iguodala sat out with a knee injury.

The Warriors took control from the opening seconds. Seven players ended in double figures scoring, highlighting the Warrior's depth.

Another fan found an audience with what appeared to be a thinly veiled threat by the San Antonio Police Department, though from an unofficial Twitter account that merely looked like that department's official handle.

The Spurs came out of halftime looking more determined, but the Warriors were ready for them. I don't think as a group they really did, which means probably a little bit feeling sorry for themselves psychologically.

Looking at the way the game was played, it looked as if the Celtics were exhausted at the start of the game and didn't seem to catch their breath until the second half. So one would logically think maybe it will take longer, but I'm hoping that's not true and we'll have him for Game 3.

But as they chipped away at Cleveland's lead, it was clear that they were not going to let the Cavs just run away with this game.

The fourth quarter was extended garbage time, but the Warriors continued to dominate, with Joel Anthony getting extended minutes and playing well.
