Jeremy Corbyn's Labour hits highest rating of campaign after manifesto launch


Len McCluskey, the head of the union Unite, which is Labour's biggest funder, said on Wednesday he was "full of optimism" about the party's chances in the 8 June poll.

Len McCluskey, general secretary of the Unite union, told Politico it would be a success for Labour if it could hold onto 200 seats in the 650-seat House of Commons - or 29 fewer than the party now holds.

With an ever-increasing number of people active on social media, party leaders are each expected to appear on Facebook Live before the election to take questions from voters.

If Labour secured 200 seats it would be their worst result since 1935.

While the Conservatives still enjoy a commanding lead Labour were up two points on 32 per cent, with the Tories down one on 45, a YouGov poll for The Times found.
