English club Nottingham Forest bought by Olympiakos owner

The long expected sale of Nottingham Forest has been completed with NF Football Investments (NFFI), headed by Olympiacos owner Evangelos Marinakis, taking 100% control.

The EFL also asked Uefa for its views on Marinakis' ownership of Olympiakos and received a positive response. "We are football people to the core and we love and know the game", he said.

"What the club needs is solid and time-tested management, a professional board, and above all, the best possible football management and players".

Nicholas Randall, a top sports lawyer, has been appointed chairman, Olympiacos managing director Ioannis Vrentzos becomes chief executive officer and David Cook, who has been senior sponsorship manager at Etihad Airways, joins Forest as its chief commercial officer.

In a statement, Marinakis has given Warburton assurances that he will be with the club "for a number of years".

"Now there is a last case remaining - there are about 80 persons involved".

The takeover was approved by the English Football League despite the fact that Marinakis faces match-fixing accusations in Greece and charges that he is involved in a criminal organization.

Marinakis, who moved to Watford as a 15-year-old and attended university in the United Kingdom, has guaranteed the future of the manager, Mark Warburton, and vowed to reward supporters for their loyalty to the club that last played Premier League football in 1999. I can tell you again that I have nothing to do with it because I know very well what I have done and how I have achieved victories.
