Swedish top-flight game postponed due to match-fixing fears

The Swedish football authorities have cancelled the match due to a significant match fixing claim, from an AIK player, who was approached on Tuesday.

The Allsvenskan clash between Gothenburg and AIK Fotboll on Thursday evening has been postponed after a player was allegedly offered money to ensure that his side lost.

Both clubs, the police and the Swedish professional football body were subsequently contacted.

IFK Goteborg President Frank Andersson told Swedish Radio that he had previously thought it was "unthinkable" that an attenpt would be made to rig a match in the Allsvenskan, the country's top league.

The federation says an AIK player was offered "a substantial amount ... if he actively contributes to the club losing the evening's planned match".
