Meet Omar, who might be the longest cat in the world

Omar is the cat that got the cream, and it looks like he ate most of it.

A huge house-cat which weighs 14kg and eats raw kangaroo meat for dinner has become an internet sensation after shooting to fame on Instagram.

Owner Stephy Hirst, from Croydon in Melbourne, told the Maroondah Leader she started an Instagram account for her giant cat a couple of weeks ago and before long he had been featured on Cats of Instagram, which has more than 8 million followers. However, the "placid" pet has not coped well with the media scrutiny, Ms Hirst told the BBC.

The current record holder is British cat Ludo, who was measured at 3.8 feet long in 2015, but Omar's owner Stephy Hirst, 29, says her 30-pound ME coon is 3.9 feet - she's just waiting for confirmation from the record-setting organization.

That said, the turnout last week was 46.9 per cent, some way short of what will be recorded in next month's general election. Salmond said that after his campaign launch he would be "hitting the doorsteps, pounding the pavements, getting stuck in".

"We buy human-grade kangaroo meat at the supermarket", Ms Hirst said.

Miss Hirst said Omar is mischievous and is capable of opening doors, kitchen cupboards, shower screens and wardrobes.

And when it comes to sleeping, because of Omar's size, he is not allowed to sleep with his owner on the bed "because he takes up too much room and will spend the whole night just purring in our ears", so he sleeps on the couch. Then Guinness came calling. Omar is a Maine Coon, which is one of the largest and oldest breeds in the world.

At just the age of 1 Omar grew to 10kgs before reaching 14kgs now that he's 3 years old.

In a separate but related probe, the Federal Bureau of Investigation is looking into Flynn's ties with Russian Federation . Grassley also said, if there was interference, "then it seems to me Comey should have taken action on that interference".

Hirst told The Herald Sun that Omar was the same size as all the other kittens in his litter when he was taken home in 2013.

"He won't be becoming a diva anytime soon", Hirst said.

But being Instagram-famous, or even world-famous, doesn't seem to be high on Omar's list of priorities.
