Interviews well underway for new Federal Bureau of Investigation director

As long as Donald Trump remains president, our governing institutions are threatened. "Nearly all of them are very well-known", Trump said before taking off for Lynchburg, Va., where he gave the commencement address at Liberty University.

Either way, Donald Trump's claim that he received three assurances from former FBI director James Comey that he's not under investigation as part of the Russian Federation inquiry doesn't add up for veterans of the bureau.

Scherbak said his post - addressed to USA media - was prompted by "this hysteria around my photo shoot at the White House".

"I think the President wants loyalty to his country and to the rule of law", Spicer said.

When he was asked, "Internally, from the president?" Comey had been overseeing a criminal investigation into suspected Russian meddling in the 2016 USA presidential campaign and potential ties to the Trump campaign. Clapper said America's founding fathers had created three co-equal branches of government with checks and balances, but with Trump as president, that was now under assault and "eroding". We don't know yet what that investigation will reveal about Trump or top aides like Paul Manafort and Michael Flynn - both fired over contacts and ties to Russian Federation - but we do know Trump fired Comey because of the investigation.

Sessions Reinforces Mandatory Minimums in War on Drugs
Congressman Scott Taylor and Congressman Bobby Scott are calling on Attorney General Sessions to rethink his current stance. We spend $34,000 a year to imprison a single inmate, an annual total of $7.5 billion on just the federal prison population.

"Even that is possible", Mr Trump told reporters when asked whether he could announce his nominee by Friday, when he is scheduled to leave for the Middle East and Europe. He dismissed as less desirable at least two of the 14 candidates under consideration by Trump, former Rep. Mike Rogers of MI and Sen. John Cornyn of Texas, explaining that "these are not normal circumstances".

"Absolutely", the Senate Intelligence Committee vice chair responded. Cornyn is the No. 2 Republican in the Senate.

Shutting down news briefings, the association said in a statement, "would reduce accountability, transparency, and the opportunity for Americans to see that, in the USA system, no political figure is above being questioned".

"The president has a chance to clean up the mess he mostly created", he said, adding, "I have no evidence that the president colluded with the Russians at all. but we don't know all the evidence yet".

Republican Senator Lindsey Graham said that the Judiciary Committee, of which he is a member, needs Comey to appear before it to "clear the air". If Democrats in Congress are ever going to hold Trump accountable for his corruption, now is the time. "He wanted to have dinner because he wanted to stay the Federal Bureau of Investigation head", Trump said.

Bobby Moynihan Is Leaving Saturday Night Live
Saturday's finale will be hosted by Dwayne "The Rock Johnson" and musical guest Katy Perry which will mark the end of season 42. Moynihan is also set to voice the title character in the Syfy series "Happy!" with Christopher Meloni and Patrick Fischler.

Trump's top spokesman refused to comment on whether listening devices are active in the Oval Office or elsewhere, a non-denial that recalled the secretly taped conversations and telephone calls that ultimately led to President Richard Nixon's downfall in the Watergate scandal. Comey earlier declined an invitation this week to testify in a closed hearing. In the NBC interview on Thursday, Trump said he would have fired Comey regardless of any such recommendations.

McCabe assumed the position of acting director on Tuesday by statute after Trump dramatically fired Comey.

Trump's firing of Comey is perhaps the most naked sign yet of his corruption.

These reasons contradicted the White House's assertions - and even the widely disseminated termination letter Trump sent Comey - that the dismissal was based on the recommendations of Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who criticized Comey's handling of the email investigation into Hillary Clinton previous year.
