India should join BRI for mutual interest: Chinese diplomat

Xi said Beijing wants "Belt and Road" to improve cooperation in making industrial and financial policy, speed up development of infrastructure, make trade and investment flow more easily and improve interaction on education and other "people-to-people ties".

President Rodrigo Duterte arrived in Beijing last Monday to attend the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, together with the heads of state from over 20 countries, including Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"The Belt and Road development does not shut out, nor is it directed against, any party", Xi told the summit.

"India appears to be the only country that has expressed disapproval of the initiative in recent days", it said. He urged the two countries to maintain the current momentum in high-level exchanges, as well as close contact between governments, legislative bodies, political parties and between regional authorities.

North Korea detains another USA citizen
A group of North Korean officials is meeting with former USA officials in Oslo for a round of informal talks known as Track 1.5. North Korea has vowed retaliation for an alleged failed assassination attempt against its leader Kim Jong-un.

"Washington's participation in the Belt and Road initiative will have knock-on effects, encouraging its allies to see the initiative from a more rational and objective perspective, and thus help win Beijing and its infrastructure projects more worldwide understanding and influence".

China's foreign ministry also said the "doors" for India to join the BRI would always be open.

For his part, Gentiloni said the just-concluded Belt and Road forum had sent a positive signal to the world economy and global trade.

"As China drives forward the Belt and Road initiative from the east, we in Britain are a natural partner in the west, standing ready to work with all Belt and Road partner countries to make a success of this initiative".

Netanyahu Denies Asking Trump Not to Move Embassy
Trump's controversial new ambassador also presented his credentials to the Israeli president at a ceremony in Jerusalem . United States presidents of both parties have repeatedly waived a USA law requiring the embassy be moved to Jerusalem .

"But China and the U.S. have maintained smooth bilateral relations, from which New Delhi can learn", it said. India, meanwhile, refused to attend the forum because one of the Belt and Road projects passes through Kashmir and Pakistan.

Beijing asked New Delhi to explain what it meant by "meaningful dialogue" on the Belt and Road project.

He later announced that the two-day summit reached "broad consensus" on the project and that China will host a new forum in 2019.

The Prime Minister said it is imperative that we appreciate the "Belt and Road" initiative in its proper perspective of interconnected development. "The Belt and Road programme should entrench this role further but until now it has been mostly a catchy phrase to go along with talk about China's global economic strategy".

House Oversight Committee wants Comey to testify at public hearing
In fact, Trump voters are much more likely to say he has exceeded their expectations than say he has disappointed them - by a lot. The Senate intelligence committee on Wednesday asked Comey to appear before the panel in both open and closed sessions.
