Game No. 41 Preview: Houston Astros at Miami Marlins

George Springer hit a two-out, two-run single in the sixth.

Miami closed its deficit to 3-2 in the bottom of the first. Jordan Zimmermann (3-2) starts for Detroit against Baltimore right-hander Dylan Bundy (5-1).

Gordon, trying for a forceout, made an errant nonchalant backhanded throw to second base on a routine grounder with two out in the sixth. Brian McCann also had four RBIs.

Gerrit Cole shut down the best offense in the majors, holding the Washington Nationals to three hits in seven innings to win for the first time in a month as the Pittsburgh Pirates eased to a 6-1 victory.

Justin Bour homered and had three hits for the Marlins.

C-919: China's first passenger plane completes maiden flight
Comac says more than 200 Chinese companies and 36 universities have been involved in research and development of the C919. Those two aircraft have some 80 years' experience between them - 30 years for the A320 and 50 years for the Boeing 737.

It was the fourth first-inning run scored in this series by Houston.

CLEVELAND - Corey Dickerson hit two of Tampa Bay's five home runs in a victory over Cleveland.

CUBS 9, REDS 5: CHICAGO - Slumping sluggers Anthony Rizzo and Kyle Schwarber homered, rookie Ian Happ connected again and the Chicago Cubs beat the Cincinnati Reds. Schwarber's continued trouble in the leadoff spot and the shaky performance so far by the rotation had created some angst for a fan base expecting more of the same after Chicago's historic World Series championship a year ago, but no one seemed a bit anxious around the team. He has an ERA of 1.91 in three starts this year.

YANKEES 7, ROYALS 1: KANSAS CITY, Mo. Kole Calhoun hit a three-run homer to right in the fifth inning and Trout followed with a drive to left. That gave Houston a 6-2 lead.

Miami loaded the bases in the first on two hit batters and a walk, but Derek Dietrich grounded out to end the threat.

Google shifts mobile focus to apps and digital assistant
Both assistants can be summoned with a press of a button to answer questions, manage schedules and handle other routine tasks. In the real world, that means you could, for instance, point your phone camera at a restaurant and get reviews for it.

Jake Lamb also went deep for the Diamondbacks, the latest team to take advantage of a beleaguered Mets bullpen.

McCullers' shutout road victory on Wednesday was his third in a row, in 19 innings he's allowed only nine hits and has struck out 14 batters and has only given up four walks.

McCullers went 6 innings giving up just three hits and two walks while striking out three to lead the Astros to a league-best 29-12 record and a sweep of the Marlins. But, the Pirates have not officially talked about being sellers at this point, even though their season seems to be nearly lost after All-Star outfielder Starling Marte was suspended 80 games for performance-enhancing drugs, pitcher Jameson Taillon had to have surgery for suspicion of testicular cancer and All-Star Andrew McCutchen is hitting a dismal.206.

Betts began the game with his seventh homer and 10th career leadoff shot, tying Jacoby Ellsbury for the franchise record.
