World Health Organization confirms second Ebola case in Congo outbreak

A new ebola outbreak has been declared in the Democratic Republic of Congo, after three deaths were linked to the virus, Sputnik reported.

The WHO's Congo spokesman, Eugene Kabambi, said: "It is in a very remote zone, very forested, so we are a little lucky".

Six people remain hospitalised with the unsafe virus, which can cause hemorrhagic fever.

More than 11,000 people died of Ebola between 2013 and 2016, a lot of them in Guinea, Sierra Leona and Liberia.

The Ebola virus is an infectious hemorrhagic fever first discovered in 1976.

UNSC to Hold Urgent Consultations on North Korea Missile Test
The latest "provocation" should serve as a call for all nations to implement far stronger sanctions against the North, it said. North Korea has also launched satellites into orbit on long-range rockets that share some of the same technology as missiles.

The vaccine is the first to prevent infection from one of the most lethal known pathogens, and the findings add weight to early trial results published in 2016. The DRC was spared the worst of the Ebola outbreak - with just 49 deaths.

But since that epidemic, the world has also gained a new weapon against the disease, holstered in anticipation of another outbreak: a vaccine called rVSV-ZEBOV. The DRC outbreak was near the Ebola River, from which the disease takes its name.

The WHO led the trial with Guinea's ministry of health, Medecins sans Frontieres and the Norwegian Institute of Public Health, in conjunction with other worldwide partners.

The organization also said that an experimental vaccine could be used, reports CNN.

Ebola occasionally jumps from animals including bats and monkeys to humans - and without preventative measures, the virus can spread quickly between people. The last outbreak occurred in 2014 during the epidemic that ravaged some countries in West Africa, killing thousands of people.

The Shadow League's Mother's Day Playlist
Eighty-five percent of Americans who responded to the NRF survey said they will celebrate Mother's Day in some fashion. Eddis added, "It just means reflecting on my mother , what she taught me, and how I need to raise my children".

The World Health Organization, however, continues to support the Canadian-developed vaccine.

In a visit to Guinea in 2015, The Globe and Mail witnessed the rollout of the Canadian vaccine and saw the difficulty of persuading some people to accept the vaccine, because of frequent false rumours about its dangers.

UNHCR spokesperson Andrej Mahecic told a press briefing here on Friday that the recent arrivals included people with severe wounds and burn injuries, who have been transferred to a local hospital to receive urgent medical attention.

One of the most urgent steps that should be taken is a vibrant revitalisation of the public enlightenment campaign that was so useful in alerting the public of the deadly nature of the disease the other time.

Executive Director Anthony Romero said the signing of the order "was an elaborate photo-op with no discernible policy outcome". The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) said in a statement that it would challenge the president's order in court.
