25th Annual Letter Carrier's Food Drive Is Saturday

"The food drive is just one of the many ways letter carriers give back to our communities".

Carriers will bring the food to local food banks, pantries or shelters. "It's imperative and we depend on this food drive at this time of year", Mcneal said.

If they want to participate, all they have to do is leave a plastic bag - maybe a double bag, depending on the weight - with nonperishable foods. In 2016, Americans donated 80.1 million pounds of food, feeding millions of people.

Those parents aren't suddenly going to be able to find more money to keep their child in a Catholic school". This includes programs for newly-arrived students, students with behavioural issues and advanced learners.

The food drive held on Saturday, May 13th will be the largest single day food drive in the United States. USPS employees will collect and deliver food donations to Iron County Care and Share and Utah Food Bank's statewide network of 141 partner agencies. The National Association of Letter Carriers, Branch #495 will be collecting non-perishable food items for distribution to food shelves in our Rutland County communities.

"This is a way that the Post Offices and Postal Unions can help", said Keith Kirshner, National Association of Letter Carriers Shop Steward for the Morristown Letter Carriers.

Food items accepted would include canned foods such as tuna and fruit.

The timing is important, with food banks, pantries and shelters running low on donations from the winter-holidays and with summer looming, when most school meal programs are suspended.

All donations will be distributed to food pantries in the community where the donation is made.
