O'Reilly will continue to air his podcast, which he says will be extended in length.

Carlson moved from 9 p.m. ET to 8 p.m. ET to replace O'Reilly, who was sacked from Fox News Channel last week amid multiple allegations of sexual harassment.

"I am sad that I'm not on television anymore", the 67-year-old said in the 19-minute recording. You know, that vehicle was fabulous for me, and I said in the beginning that I'm sad, but why wouldn't I wish them the best?

O'Reilly continued: "It is tremendously disheartening that we part ways due to completely unfounded claims". Though it was the first time he has spoken out publicly since his departure, O'Reilly didn't offer any details about his high-profile exit because he's concerned that some - i.e., the media - may take it the wrong way.

O'Reilly's podcast episode will be available on his website to premium members at 7 p.m. EDT Monday. Dozens of marketers abandoned O'Reilly's show in the wake of recent disclosures he had made settlements totaling around $13 million after being accused of sexual harassment and inappropriate behavior.

O'Reilly replied: "Look, I was there for 20 years and six months".

Addressing the allegations, O'Reilly posted a statement to his website on April 1, emphasizing that his position has made him "vulnerable to lawsuits", despite the fact that "no one has ever filed a complaint", about him with the Human Resources Department. In contrast, some of Fox News' more recent airings of "The O'Reilly Factor", with and without Bill O'Reilly at the helm, carried as few as ten ads, many of them from direct-response marketers and lesser-known brands. Fox News host Eric Bolling was given his own weekly show at 5 p.m., while company executives moved Tucker Carlson's show to 8 p.m. and "The Five" to 9 p.m. "So on behalf of all of us on 'The Factor, ' good night and godspeed".

President Donald Trump's low approval ratings are reported gleefully by the mainstream press, but those negative numbers can be blamed on their relentless stories slamming Trump.

O'Reilly has denied the claims.
